Avengers: Endgame wraps up the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we’ve known it for almost the last 11 years - but is it suitable for kids to see? Anticipation of the final Avengers installment is at fever pitch, and everyone is clamoring to see it, including kids. For a lot of kids, Marvel movies have become a staple of their childhood. Even if they’ve not watched all the movies, characters like Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, and, more recently, Captain Marvel, have entered popular culture in such a way that even the very young know who they are and what they do....

According to the Korea Herald, Apple’s new iPad will likely utilize Samsung’s newly revealed Super PLS technology. The current iPad, as well as the iPhone 4, use a technology called IPS, which provides outstanding viewing angles. Samsung’s PLS technology is superior to IPS in many regards. The viewing angles provided by PLS are improved as the display actually shifts the shape of the individual pixels so they are displayed brighter and with better contrast from more angles....

Apple has drawn attention to an inspiring example of iPads helping refugee children, some of whom have never before set foot in a school. In one school, there are 325 students who come from 39 different countries, many of whom have fled war in the Middle East. iPads play a key role in helping the kids overcome a fear of looking foolish in the classroom … Apple describes the school in Dusseldorf, Germany, where German is a second language for 20% of the students....

HD Voice – using LTE data to offer enhanced voice quality during phone calls – has been available on Apple devices since the iPhone 6, and it now appears the iPhone 8 supports the next generation of the technology. A Japanese site is reporting that the iPhone 8 supports Enhanced Voice Services (EVS), and this seems to be supported by UK carrier EE … Makotakara noted the reference in an Engadget Japan interview with the president of Japanese telco KDDI....

In January, we reported that Apple would be launching a new 4-inch iPhone in March with a design “nearly identical” to that of the iPhone 5s from 2013. Since then, several rumors and teases from various case makers have teased that the new 4-inch iPhone may have a design that looks a bit closer to the iPhone 6 in both shape and look. Checks with additional sources indicate that the iPhone SE, to be launched at Apple’s March 21st event next week, will look “almost exactly the same” as the iPhone 5s…...

The Irish government is today formally appealing against a European Union ruling that it should have claimed an additional €13B in tax from Apple, which has its European headquarters in the country. The EU ruled that offering Apple a sweetheart tax rate of just 2.5% amounted to illegal state aid. Apple wasted no time in announcing that it would appeal the judgement soon after it was made, but the Irish government understandably took a little longer to announce that it, too, would be appealing....

Apple has so far been rather cagey about the iPhone 11’s U1 chip, which is capable of extremely accurate positioning data. A French medical study reported at the World Congress of Anaesthesiologists in Hong Kong found that using iPads to reduce anxiety levels in children prior to surgery was every bit as effective as the sedative midazolam. If you have a new iPad Pro and have had issues using the new software keyboard, you’re probably not alone. Aside from following the iPhone 6/Plus lead and adding new keys in the space around the QWERTY keyboard, iPad Pro includes a full sized shift key and half-height number keys which in theory require fewer taps to access more characters. In practice, the new layout requires an adjustment period, to put it mildly, as the keys most frequently accessed are surrounded by targets that you have to avoid tapping accidentally....

Apple will not include a power charger or earbuds with the iPhone 12, citing environmental reasons. Apple said it will be able to significantly reduce carbon emissions by not having to make the accessories in the first place, in addition to reducing the shipping box size of each iPhone sold. For the first time, neither the power charger brick nor the Apple EarPods will be included with your iPhone purchase. Apple says doing this will save 2 million metric tons of carbon annually....

The iPhone’s camera system has long been a favorite of professional videographers looking to capture video with mobile rigs, and the iPhone X is proving to be no exception. Some speculation exists claiming Apple may be migrating its iTunes services to services hosted at its growing North Carolina data center this Thanksgiving. This speculation is based on information provided to Apple developers in which the company warns that its traditional Christmas period shut down of the iTunes Connect service will this year also see a similar shut down happen at Thanksgiving. Industry watchers think the closures could offer the company a significant opportunity to migrate iTunes service to its new servers for testing and future deployment of cloud-based services....

We are continuing to dig through the leaked iOS 11 GM firmware. We’ve found a brand new feature for the iPhone 8 called ‘Animoji’, which uses the 3D face sensors to create custom 3D animated emoji based on the expressions you make into the camera. Users will be able to make Animoji of unicorns, robots, pigs, pile of poo and many more.
