Motorola’s modular smartphone line has a new member named Moto Z Play. Moto Z Play is another member of Motorola’s mid-range modular smartphone lineup. Motorola launched their Moto Z3 play smartphone in June 2018. Since them it customers are eager to know whether this smartphone is officially IP68 certified on not. The company says that the device is splashproof, but we will get to know in our Moto Z3 Play waterproof test....

We’ve previously noted KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo for his often accurate reports on upcoming Apple products in the past. Usually those reports revolve around features that have been somewhat expected. We’ve expected a fingerprint scanner for quite some time and even found code that seems to point to a biometric input for the new iPhone. We’ve also profiled possible fingerprint readers in the iPhone 5S just last week. Today’s report is something a bit out of left field however....

The iPhone 5s has retained its status as the best-selling smartphone at the four tier-1 U.S. carriers for the third month running, with the iPhone 5c taking third place after the Samsung Galaxy S4. Data from Canaccord Genuity showed that the iPhone 5s has topped the sales charts at AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile every month since launch, reports AllThingsD. Prior to the launch of the new iPhones, Apple held the top slot at only one of the four carriers, AT&T, with the iPhone 5 sitting in second place behind the Samsung S4 at the others....

Since updating, the iPhone X does work with the iPhone XS Smart Battery Case, but with inconsistent results. Apple yesterday officially unveiled its new Smart Battery Cases for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. iPhone X users, however, have been left wondering whether or not the iPhone XS case will function with their device....

Best Buy has just reduced the price of the iPad WiFi + 3G by $30. That’s for all storage capacities: 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB. The 16 GB 3G model is now $599, the 32 GB is $699, and the 64 GB is $799. Maybe this is a to clear some inventory for the new iPad 2? It’s interesting that the WiFi-only models are not discounted, and the iPad 3G is not discounted at Apple’s online store....

All the signs now point to two Apple events in the near future: the now-announced one on September 15, and a second one in October for the delayed iPhone 12 keynote. Some still believe that the September event will include the new iPhones, suggesting that the scheduled two-hour slot is too long for just the new iPad Air and Apple Watch models. But I think it’s pretty likely the September event will not include the new iPhones …...

After yesterday’s Sprint story, MacTrast chimes in that the soon to be acquired by AT&T network will carry the iPhone 5 as well. That’s somewhat strange as the chips inside the Verizon iPhone and what are thought to be in the upcoming iPhone 5 support T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 14Mb ‘4G’ service (as well as AT&T’s ‘4G’)....

We all know that iPhones are the best devices that Apple makes and hence the devices are quite popular among people. iPhones are also known for their ability to last longer than Android phones. Apple also pushes new updates to its older phones and keeps the device support enabled for a long time even after an iPhone gets discontinued. iPhones as older as 6-7 years also get proper updates and still have support from Apple....

A Digitimes report claims that Apple is working on not just one but two different models of its replacement for the iPhone SE, which may be branded the iPhone 9. While the iPhone SE 2 label has been widely used as shorthand for the replacement entry-level iPhone expected to be launched this year, we’re not expecting it to look anything like the slab-sided compact iPhone SE. Instead, we’re expecting it to essentially be an iPhone 8 with updated internals – and one recent report suggested it might be called the iPhone 9…...

iSuppli has come forth with the most comprehensive bill of materials yet for the iPhone 3G. There are lots of fun parts included but the one that stuck out was CSR BluCor6 Rom which means that, yes, the iPhone can do A2DP Stereo Bluetooth, should Apple allow that in a software update. It also means that if Apple does enable some sort of Bluetooth tethering or synching in the future, you will be able to get the EDR of 3....

Despite what some expected, the iPhone XS isn’t any cheaper than the iPhone X – which means the iPhone XS Max now takes the crown as the most expensive iPhone ever. The iPhone XS starts at $999, while the iPhone XS Max starts at $1,099 for 64GB – but things get even more expensive when you start upgrading that storage. Both the new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max include a new option for 512GB of storage, as well as 256GB....

TUAW notes that inside the USB device profiles of iOS 5 are profiles for two never before seen devices called “iPad3,1” and “iPad3,2.” Obviosuly Apple is going to be making more iPads in the future and devices often show up in these profiles many months before they are delivered. However, there was some speculation earlier this year that an enhanced iPad 2 or iPad 3 with a Retina display would be released in time for the holidays....

Hewlett-Packard engineers did dare pull unthinkable: They hacked iPad to install webOS only to find out Apple’s hardware runs their mobile operating system more than twice as fast compared to their own TouchPad hardware, a source “close to the subject” told The Next Web. The finding had devastating effects on the team’s morale: It should be pointed out that webOS runs on Qualcomm ARM chips while iPad 2 runs on Samsung silicon....

Improvements to both backlighting and touchscreen of the iPad 5 display will allow the new model to be both slimmer and lighter, according to a display analyst in an email to CNET … While it might seem obvious that successive models of new tech get slimmer and smaller, the iPad 3 and 4 were actually thicker than the iPad 2 due to the additional requirements of supporting the Retina display. The iPad 5 is also rumored to be copying the narrow-edged bezel design of the iPad Mini....

You know you’re in trouble when people write an app with sole purpose of pinging your content network to tell users whether or not it’s up. Touche. Clearly Sony should have released such an app as part of their damage control process. It’s surprising that the idea for the PSN Status app took so long to dislodge. Image iTunes were busted and went down for a month… I assure you that Apple fans and haters would fall over each other creating a similar app within the first 24 hours of the incident....

Businessweek has a fun chart showing that Apple’s iPhone business alone would make it the 9th largest stock in the Dow Jones top 30 companies, ahead of such giants as Microsoft, Coca-Cola and McDonalds. It’s not a terribly surprising fact – the iPhone represents the bulk of Apple’s business, with its $88.4B sales greater than all of Apple’s other products and services combined ($81B), but it is quite a graphic illustration of the strength of that one product line....

Morgan Stanley is estimating that iPhone sales for Q3 (Apple’s fiscal Q4) will hit 34.5M, 28 percent higher than the 26.9M sold in the same quarter last year, reports Fortune. The estimate is 11 percent higher than the market consensus forecast of 31M handsets, though still below the 47M sales the same tracker forecasts for the Samsung Galaxy line. The reality, of course, depends on how consumers respond to both the new phones and iOS 7....

The obvious explanation for the screenshot above, taken on a current Retina iPod touch with the latest iOS 5 Beta, is that Apple messed up by leaving the ‘Cellular’ data option in the iPod software.
