We’ve heard quite a bit about the iPhone 8 and iPhone X this weekend, and things aren’t slowing down. Developer Steve Troughton Smith now offers a bit more information about the hardware of the new iPhones, including RAM specifications and camera details… As far as RAM goes, Smith says the iPhone 8 will feature 2GB, while the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X will both feature 3GB. For comparison’s sake, the iPhone 7 Plus features 3GB of RAM and the iPhone 7 packs 2GB....

Remember when people were saying that the iPhone would flop in Japan, that the country’s mobile tech was too advanced for the iPhone? The Japanese hated the iPhone? Well, Softbank’s CEO sees it a different way, according to the Wall Street Journal: For Softbank’s chairman and chief executive, the company’s role as the only official supplier of the iPhone in Japan gives it a strong attraction in a consumer market characterized by a fascination for gadgetry....

Some more issues are popping up with iPhone 4 users. Seems the proximity sensors are a little less sensitive than their predecessors, causing hang-ups from people who hold the iPhone close to their ear, move it slightly away and then touch their cheek to it. Iron Man 3 included a subtle hint that Marvel planned to transform Tony Stark’s AI, JARVIS, into Vision. Paul Bettany stands unique in the annals of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the only actor to play two high-profile MCU characters on the big screen. He was introduced as the voice of JARVIS in Iron Man back in 2008, but in 2015 became the superhero known as Vision. Named after Howard Stark’s old butler, JARVIS - Just A Rather Very Intelligent System - started out as a natural language user interface system, created by Tony Stark....

The purported iPhone 5 case that gained popularity over the last few days has been removed from trading site Alibaba. The case obviously brought a large amount of attention to its manufacter so we don’t think the case was removed by choice. Prior to the iPad 2’s official announcement in March, many iPad 2 cases found on Alibaba revealed key features like its thinner design and FaceTime video cameras. Those iPad 2 cases ended up being removed from Alibaba with the help of Apple’s legal team....

We don’t normally put a lot of faith in what the online sales reps say, but MacAppsDaily chatted up an Apple phone rep who said online sales would begin at 12:01 on the 11th, with free fast shipping. That seems pretty solid and is being reported elsewhere. While good, it isn’tt going to get you an iPad as fast as waiting in line though. One thing this would guarantee though: FedEx isn’t going to accidentally send you your iPad before people get in them in line, like the last few launches....

DigiTimes reports that Apple’s share of the tablet market in Taiwan has dipped from 60 percent in May to 50 percent in June. Don’t worry, the decline is attributed to an demand and supply imbalance rather than competitive pressure from other tablet vendors. Of the 35,000 tablet PCs that shipped in the 22 million people market of Taiwan during June, iPad accounted for 50 percent of the volume and the other half was split between Asustek, Acer, ViewSonic and HTC....

A new supply chain report from Digitimes claims Apple is shifting iPhone 8 production up earlier than usual for the company. The report also continues to push the rumor that Apple is planning iris scanning technology in the next flagship iPhone. While earlier than usual production was separately reported earlier this week, a Fast Company piece two days ago cited an anonymous source in saying that the iPhone 8 will likely still launch around the usual September timeframe....

The product developed in Facebook’s Seattle-based engineering center can obviously be anything from a new site feature or a new mobile application, but with multiple iOS-related products coming very soon, we’re thinking this awesome launch might be their long-awaited iPad application. Facebook has reportedly been readying a native iPad application for sometime now and according to a report from two weeks ago, the application is essentially complete and is undergoing final testing....

This weekend, developer Loren Brichter released a website claiming that Google Chrome for Mac — or more specifically its auto-update mechanism — was causing the WindowServer process on macOS to constantly have high CPU usage, damaging the performance of macOS, even on high-end machines. The website includes information on how to completely get rid of Chrome and its updater from your Mac to get your performance back, and went as far as calling it “malware” (that word has since been removed)....

As TiPb.com points out, Apple is using the ePub format for its iPad iBookstore which should allow access to hundreds of thousands of free eBooks. While Apple’s iBooks will be wrapped in FairPlay DRM which won’t work on other eReaders, and other eReaders use ePub wrapped in Adobe’s DRM, Project Gutenberg books, which are free of DRM but still in the ePub format, should work on the iPad. Project Gutenberg are all of the classic books that are out of copyright....

As a way to get new car owners a bit more up to date with their new 2013 CTS, Cadillac plans to give every new owner an iPad full of directions that go over the car’s features. Cadillac’s head of customer experience Mark Harland said Cadillac plans to “be the leader in customer experience,” reported Wired, and it looks like the iPad will help them reach that status. The news was revealed at this year’s CTIA conference, which is taking place in New Orleans....

Buffy The Vampire Slayer is a landmark show, but where can it be seen online and is on Netflix, Hulu or Prime? Buffy Summers had an interesting journey to becoming a television icon.
