iPhone production in India is to get a further boost as a third of Apple’s smartphone assemblers is reportedly setting up its first plant in the country. Foxconn and Wistron already have multiple assembly plants in India, and now Pegatron is said to be setting up its first plant there. iPad, meet the world’s biggest consumer market. Apple today announced that the Wifi models of its iPad will be available in China on September 17th. Legitimately. iPad Wi-Fi models in China will be available for a suggested retail price of CNY3988 for 16GB, CNY4788 for 32GB and CNY5588 for 64GB. No world on 3G models but we’re pretty certain there is some extra government complexity there. A new analyst note from Citi Research today shares the expectation that the iPhone 11 will be the first to include Apple Pencil support. This comes after several years that we’ve heard rumors about the iPhone bringing functionality for the stylus. Last year we saw a couple of reports that the iPhone XS and XS Max would be the first to include Apple Pencil support. Of course, that didn’t happen, but now Citi analysts say they are expecting Apple Pencil functionality to arrive with the iPhone 11 this year (via Business Insider)....

The iPhone 12 Pro Max is on the opposite end of the spectrum compared to the iPhone 12 mini. Depressing as it may be to discuss iPhone 12 repair costs before people even get their hands on the shiny new device, Apple has updated its support page to reveal the new costs and fees. There’s a mix of good news and bad … The good news is that screen repair costs are unchanged for the Pro model. This still costs $279 for an out-of-warranty repair, the same as for the iPhone 11 Pro....

Director of research, Paul Carton, notes that prior to the release of the iPhone 3G, his surveys had suggested the device would have a huge impact on the market. It did. Apple’s decline in iPhone sales is unsurprisingly having a knock-on effect on its key suppliers, with the WSJ reporting that Foxconn, Pegatron, Sharp, Japan Display and Sony have all reported falling profits or losses as a result. Suppliers say they expect to see a boost in demand from the new iPhone later this year, but analysts have predicted that Apple’s smartphone business may not return to growth this year, and suppliers don’t see an immediate replacement for the reduced business....

We expected to see refreshed iPod lineups today, and Apple is not disappointing by following up the iPhone 5 announcement with the introduction of a completely refreshed seventh-generation iPod nano. It sports a larger display, Bluetooth, Home button, and Lightning connector. The new Nano is also the thinnest at just 5.4mm, and it includes play/pause, forward/back physical buttons in addition to an iPhone-style Home button. The Nano also come in seven colors, and it has the longest battery life of any Nano with up to 30 hours of music playback....

Disney+ has decided to end the debate on whether or not Iron Man 3 is a Christmas movie. The third film in the Iron Man franchise (seventh in the MCU) takes place over the holiday season, but it doesn’t blatantly embrace Santa Claus, mistletoe, or eggnog—Christmas is just a backdrop, not the focus. As reported earlier, Apple released the final Golden Master seed of the iPad 3.2 SDK. This allows developers to build their apps to run on the iPad via the App Store starting April 3rd. After improving to “3-5 days” shipping time in most major markets late last month, the iPad mini is today listed as in stock for all models in at least the United States, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, and Canada. UkranianiPhone.com has posted images of what it claims are iPhone 6 renders aimed at helping manufacturers produce accessories for the upcoming device. The images appear to be better quality versions of the schematics leaked a few weeks ago. They depict the full-metal backplate with inlets at the top and bottom, assumedly related to the antenna structure. The cutouts for these lines match the image from the previous leaks. Interestingly, the renders also give specific measurements saying that the phone is 138mm in height, 67 mm in width, and 6 mm in depth....
