iOS App Store developers have reported to The Next Web that they have seen references to future iPhone hardware and software in their application usage logs. TNW reports that these developers have seen references for Apple’s upcoming iOS 7 iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch operating system running on unreleased iPhone 6,1 hardware. The IP addresses of the devices are reportedly from inside Apple’s Cupertino, California campus. This iPhone 6,1 hardware is a step over Apple’s current iPhone 5,1 and iPhone 5,2 iPhone 5 models....

The iPhone 8 camera may introduce support for a new ‘SmartCam’ scene selection feature according to code discovered by Guilherme Rambo from the leaked HomePod software. The code suggests SmartCam may be used by the new camera app to intelligently capture the best photos when shooting specific scenes like sunrises and fireworks. Additional code references authenticating Apple Pay with what is believed to be facial recognition. The SmartCam code references various scenes including Baby, Bright Stage, Document, Fireworks, Foliage, and more....

A new J.D. Power study shows that U.S. iPhone owners are more satisfied with their phone than owners of any other brand – though just one point above Samsung. Apple has just announced that its iPhone 4S will land in Hong Kong, South Korea and thirteen additional countries this coming Friday, November 4, when the company will begin taking reservations in those countries (with the exceptions of Albania, El Salvador, Guatemala, Malta, Montenegro and Panama, where pre-orders won’t be available). Apple is expected to become the market leader in Japan, with the iPhone 5s and 5c forecast to make up 40 percent of all new contracts on Japan’s DoCoMo carrier, reports Nikkei (via CNET). While other Japanese carriers already offer the iPhone, the DoCoMo deal is key, with the carrier selling over 23M handsets a year. Grabbing 40 percent of that would make Apple the dominant player in the country, taking sales not just from local carriers but also from Samsung, whose handsets were heavily promoted by DoCoMo this summer....
