Employees of Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn went on strike late last week in Brazil with protests outside the company’s Jundiai factory continuing into today. We received several tips about the strike and translated reports from local news sources such as Globo.com claim all production lines at the factory stopped when the strike involving around 3,500 employees began last Thursday. The strike, which isn’t the first at the Foxconn facility in Jundiai, hits as Apple takes a record number of preorders for the new iPhone 6 just days ahead of the device’s official launch on Sept 19....

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is seeking to have Apple drop the “4G” from the advertising/website of its new iPad products with cell modems… Optus and Telstra do not use the compatible LTE radio frequencies as Apple’s iPad; therefore, new iPads are not compatible with the LTE 4G networks in Australia. Ahead of the iPad Pro’s launch in November, sources have shared a couple of tidbits regarding launch plans for the device. We are told that Apple this week has started training its AppleCare support staff to become familiar with troubleshooting the larger tablet. Apple typically prepares its support network on major new products in the couple of weeks prior to the device’s launch. Apple is asking its support centers to complete their training by Friday, November 6th, which indicates that the iPad Pro is likely still on track for the early November launch we previously discussed....

Two clever minds during a Pwn2Own contest were able to hack a fully patched iPhone 4S to gain a slew of information from the device, reported ZdNet. The hackers, Joost Pol and Daan Keuper, were able to find vulnerability in WebKit that allowed them to hi-jack photos, videos, address book contacts, and browsing history right from the phone....

Qualcomm won a surprise victory against Apple in China earlier this week, when it obtained an injunction against both the import and sale of iPhones in the country.
