This is revised EU legislation that aims to protect human health and the environment by ensuring waste batteries are properly collected and recycled. Some reports have claimed the Battery Directive means Apple will in future be forced to make batteries in its iPod and iPhone players user replaceable, but this isn’t the case: Apple is already in compliance with the Directive becuase it takes responsibility for replacement and disposal of old batteries, and already offers a free iPod (and mobile phone) recycling schemes in Europe....

As we stated before, Apple will be the sole distributor of the iPod and iPhone software and most likely distribute it through the iTunes delivery that it currently uses for games on the iPod. They will also take a large cut of the revenue that the software produces. They will only distribute software they deem necessary, safe and worthwhile. All of this is Apple’s right. The video games consoles do this....

Last week we reported that Apple is preparing to announce a new 4-inch iPhone dubbed the “iPhone 5se” as soon as mid-March. Our report noted that the new iPhone is essentially an upgraded iPhone 5s with a faster processor, Apple Pay, new camera features, and curved glass edges instead of sharp chamfers. Now, we have a few additional details about this new iPhone model. A supply chain report today supports earlier predictions that the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with miniLED screen will be the first Apple product with the latest backlighting tech. Earlier today, we shared a handful of videos that gave perhaps the best look yet at the upcoming iPhone 7. Now, a new report from Macotakara reiterates a few features that the iPhone 7 could very well feature, including a capacitive Home button. According to the report, which cites supply chain sources, the iPhone 7 will feature a capacitive Home button with support for 3D Touch. This means that the home button would not actually be a moving part, though users would still feel as if they were pushing a button thanks to haptic feedback similar to that of the Force Touch trackpad on recent MacBooks....

Google announced today that it’s about to bring SMS for iPhone and a new Calendar Glassware to Google Glass users following an update to KitKat and the introduction of new features earlier this month. First up, iPhone users will now be able to receive text messages on Glass but, as Google points out, they “won’t be able to reply from Glass due to some limitations with iOS.” The support for SMS is a feature that Glass users have long had access to when paired to an Android device....

The latest speed test results are in from YouTuber, PhoneBuff. This time around he pitted the iPhone XS Max against Google’s Pixel 3 XL and the results weren’t pretty for the new Android flagship. However, it seems Google currently has a memory management issue with its Pixel 3, so a redo in the future might better represent real world results.
