According to a new report from Macotakara, it’s not Lightning-suited EarPods that Apple is planning to include, but rather the standard 3.5mm EarPods and an adapter. The included adapter would allow users to plug the EarPods or any other pair of 3....

Another carrier in Japan has announced that it is lowering the price of the iPhone XR. Back in November, NTT Docomo announced it was cutting ~$100 off the price of the iPhone XR, and now SoftBank has announced a similar promotion. In a press release, SoftBank announced that it is cutting the iPhone XR price by 10,800 yen, which is roughly $100. The price reduction will go into effect next week, starting on January 30th and will be marketed as the “iPhone XR Happy Price Campaign....

It looks like it is the season of sketchy schematics and component leaks again. Posted by NowhereElse.fr, this image is supposed to confirm the existence of an imminent larger iPad. According to the site, the images come from a source that was reliable in the past, passing over sketches of iPhone 6 chassis that turned out to be the real deal. While there’s no limit to how long an iMessage can be, not all of your friends may have iPhones. Which means you default back to SMS, which has a 140 character limit. While Apple has been pretty good about splitting up SMS when sending more than 140 characters, sometimes it doesn’t work as intended, depending on the receiving person’s carrier. So, keeping track of how many characters you’ve typed may be useful for sending messages to friends on inferior devices....

Shure, a company that makes mics for iPhones with Lightning connectivity alongside their range of professional audio gear, claims on Twitter that iOS 11.3 is due out for everyone next week. This is in response to a customer complaint about failed recordings; the company says iOS 11.3 includes a fix for these accessories. The tweet was first spotted by Piunikaweb. Whilst generally third-party companies are not privy to Apple’s release schedule, if Shure has been receiving lots of complaints about their mics not working with iPhone 8 and iPhone X, Apple may have reassured them with a timeline for the fix being released....

Unlike the U.S. and EU, Irish authorities won’t be forcing representatives from Apple and Google to answer questions on their tax practices after a motion to do so was voted down this week by the Irish parliamentary committee.
