Chinese news site Commercial Times has claimed that iPhone supplier Wistron was caught using ‘unauthorized components’ in its production of the iPhone 8 Plus in China. The report says that Apple ordered the company to halt production when the issue came to light, with assembly suspended for two weeks … Digitimes reports that Wistron has issued a partial denial. The statement as reported does not deny that it was found using fake components, and leaves open the possibility that production was halted for a shorter period....

Update: Apple has now pulled the images from their site. It seems the iPhone 4S has arrived on Apple’s Japanese website a little bit early. The rough translation tells us the device will be available on October 14th through retail stores starting at 8AM. More importantly, Geekbench results (seen below) tell us that iPad 2 is clocked around “25 percent higher than the iPhone 4S”. Overall, the Apple-designed dual-core A5 chip inside iPhone 4S is estimated to run at 800MHz versus iPad 2’s 1GHz A5 processor. This isn’t entirely unexpected due to the battery concerns and the handset’s much smaller 5.25 Whr battery. Furthermore, Apple says iPhone 4S has “up to seven times faster graphics” versus the advertised “nine times faster graphics” on the iPad 2 – another proof that the two device’s graphics processing units are not clocked equally....

TechCrunch went hands-on with Google’s newest smartphone, the Nexus 6, and took some time to compare it to the iPhone 6 Plus. In the photo above, you’ll see that the two phones share near identical dimensions, though the Nexus still manages to pack a larger 6.22-inch display space into the same body.
