The nation’s third-largest carrier, Sprint Nextel, yesterday reported third-quarter earnings and their CEO Dan Hesse opined “iPhone is worth every penny”. We learned they pay a 40 percent higher subsidy to Apple than the industry average, amounting to $200 more per device. In a conference call with analysts, Hesse said “iPhone users are likely to consume significantly less 3G than the typical user of a dual-mode 3G/4G device”, Barron’s reports. The new iPhone SE will appeal to many iPhone 6 owners, predict analysts – except in China, where a huge survey on the social network Weibo showed limited interest. For most iPhone 6 owners, suggested Gartner, the timing is perfect … Reuters reports. But others doubt that the new model will appeal in China, where 5G is a big selling-point and is found in some mid-range phones now. “These are people who keep their phones for four or five years, until they either break or the battery dies,” said Annette Zimmermann at consultancy Gartner....

Officially the second-generation iPhone SE (for Special Edition), the new model includes the same A13 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 11 series alongside a third‑generation Neural Engine. Apple says the A13 Bionic is the faster chip ever in a smartphone. It’s been designed to handle photography, gaming, and augmented reality experiences. The dedicated 8-core Neural Engine is capable of 5 trillion operations per second, two Machine Learning Accelerators on the CPU, and a new Machine Learning Controller to balance performance and efficiency....

With the hopes of bringing back all those who were affected by Thanos’ (Josh Brolin) Decimation from Avengers: Infinity War, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes collected all six Infinity Stones and created their own metal glove that would allow them to all their power at once. Aside from the Mad Titan, the now famous snap has only been executed by two other characters - Iron Man and Hulk....

According to a report from Digitimes the production of Apple’s second-generation iPad will go into full-force in Q1 of 2011 for an early 2011 product launch. Apple has already secured three iPad 2 parts suppliers, Ibiden, Tripod Technology and TTM Technologies, and will be adding four more suppliers in February. The report notes that the three named suppliers have received final certification from Apple and will begin shipping limited quantities of any-layer HDI boards next month....

In addition to updates to the MagSafe iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands, the company has also released two new colors for the iPad Smart Folio and Smart Covers. These new colors are “Electric Orange” and “Mallard Green.” They are available for all current iPad models. As we noted earlier today, Apple also introduced a new white variant of the Magic Keyboard cover for iPad Air and iPad Pro. That cover isn’t available for purchase yet and likely won’t be available until Apple starts taking orders for the new iPad Pro, but the new colored Smart Folios and Smart Covers are available now and can deliver by the end of this week....

Apple made the iPhone 5, new iPods, and a slew of accessory products available on its online store last night. The excitement surrounding the occasion was certainly there. Shipping estimates for the iPhone 5 already slipped to “2-3 weeks” just an hour after sales began. Strangely, Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint are all still advertising a Sept. 21 ship date. As first reported by BGR India, the 16GB and 32GB iPhone 5S variants now have a MRP of Rs.44,500 and Rs.49,500 respectively. The 8GB iPhone 5C, on the other hand, sees its price drop to Rs.31,500. But the good thing is, one can expect the actual prices of both iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C to go down further, both online and retail, now that Apple has officially dropped the prices considerably....

iPad keyboards helped kickstart the move from content consumption on an iPad to creation. Whilst the exterior design of the iPhone XS is practically unchanged compared to iPhone X, the devices are not identical. Obviously, the Max is larger and will not fit any current cases. The 5.8-inch iPhone Xs situation is more murky. Macotakara has found that the camera bump on the iPhone XS is just a tad bigger than the iPhone X, which means some existing cases are not a perfect fit....

Catcher – a Chinese company which makes casings for both iPhones and Macs – has been accused of violating a whole raft of Apple’s supplier standards. Catcher was one of the iPhone suppliers reporting high demand into this year, and is rumored to be developing a lightweight frame for a future Apple wearable. Since Apple released the first “big” iPhone back with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, I’ve bounced from the big phone to the smaller phone almost like clockwork each year. With the iPhone 6 lineup, I went with the 6 Plus. With the 6s lineup, I went back to the smaller one, and I’ve done that each year until then.
