Asus unveiled Zenfone Max Pro M2 in December 2018 with Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. The phone falls in a mid-range category sporting Snapdragon 660 SoC along with up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Zenfone Max Pro M2 features a dual 12+5MP snappers at the back along with a 13MP snapper at the front and it is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery. Talking about if Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 will get Android 11 R, the short answer is NO. The long answer is below.
Is Asus releasing Android 11 update to Zenfone Max Pro M2?
The answer is no. This is because Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 has already received two major Android OS upgrade i.e. Android 9.0 Pie and Android 10.0 Q. This means it is currently out of support from getting any further major Android OS upgrades unless Asus deems it to get the Android 11 upgrade which is highly unlikely at this moment.
What to do if you aren’t getting Android 11 R?
There’s more than one way to get the latest OS on your phone even if it rolls out of support. When it comes to Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2, the smartphone may not get Android 11 R but you can still download and install custom ROMs based on Android 11 R. Custom ROM makers like LineageOS, Resurrection OS, Pixel Experience, etc, develop custom ROMs based on the source code for Android OS released by Google.
Either you can install a custom ROM based on Android 11 R which is yet to arrive or you can go for a different custom ROM that may not be too stock-type like Android in case if you want a different interface for your smartphone. Note that although custom ROMs are supported on a wide range of devices compared to stock Android, they still have requirements meeting which the phone will be compatible with the custom OS or else you will be stuck on the same UI. Check out this page as we will soon update the custom ROMs available and for Zenfone Max Pro M2 once there’s more information about it.
