Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Bruce Banner/Hulk’s (Mark Ruffalo) original Infinity Gauntlets’ concept art from Avengers: Endgame make their way online. With the hopes of bringing back all those who were affected by Thanos’ (Josh Brolin) Decimation from Avengers: Infinity War, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes collected all six Infinity Stones and created their own metal glove that would allow them to all their power at once. Aside from the Mad Titan, the now famous snap has only been executed by two other characters - Iron Man and Hulk.

Stark and Banner’s respective snaps happened at different times in Endgame and with different gauntlets (the original one was forged by Eitri). After much discussion, the latter put on the secondary gauntlet to bring back those who perished at the end of Infinity War. Meanwhile, the former devised a mechanism in his suit (with the help of nanotech) that would allow it to hold all six Infinity Stones and function like another metal glove  - hence, allowing him to snatch the elemental crystals from Thanos in just a split-second. Now, fans can check out how the said gauntlets were originally designed and compare it to what ended up on the big screen.

Shared on his official Instagram by concept designer Fausto De Martini are early designs for Stark and Hulk’s respective Infinity Gauntlets. In the caption, he explained that the idea for them is that they were “supposed to be a more hack together by Tony Stark type of device” meaning they’re supposed to look “more low tech.” However, as the production for Endgame progressed, there were some alterations ending in “a more sleek design” in the film. Check out the images below:

It’s curious why the original idea was to create low-tech-looking Infinity Gauntlets for Endgame considering that in the movie both have the technology from Stark Industries and essentially, Wakanda. On top of that, the film didn’t have a scarcity of geniuses who can actually use the resources available to them with Stark, Smart Hulk, and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) on the team. It’s possible that it has something to do with wanting to highlight Stark’s ingenuity, being able to come up with something so powerful with very little tools and paraphernalia. This would’ve harkened his  time in the cave creating Mark I in Iron Man and again, as the Mechanic in Iron Man 3.

The Infinity Gauntlet alongside the Infinity Stones has essentially become associated with the twin Avengers sequels. Much of Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame’s overall stories hinged on who was wielding the completed gauntlet at different times. The primary MCU timeline does not have any of these since Captain America (Chris Evans) returned the elemental crystals to their respective locations prior the Time Heist. All that being said, it doesn’t mean that the stones and the gauntlet won’t find their way back into the main franchise reality.
