Office supply and electronics retailer OfficeMax/Office Depot have just cut their aftermarket battery replacement pricing to $28, just enough to undercut Apple by a buck.

As reported by MacRumors, the retailer is offering the discounted service (normally $50) for iPhone 6/6 Plus and iPhone 6s/6s Plus. A battery replacement through OfficeMax or Office Depot comes with a one-year warranty, but keep in mind the retailers aren’t authorized Apple service providers (AASP).

However, if you don’t have a an Apple Store or AASP nearby, or don’t want to wait (up to six weeks for some) this might be an option worth considering.

The OfficeMax/Office Depot website even says that same day repairs are possible, but local stock will certainly vary. The discounted $28 price is effective until February 4th.

If you’ve waited this long before trying to get your iPhone battery replaced at an Apple Store, you may be in for a long wait, the “Swap-apocolypse” has begun.
