“Customer response to iPhone 5 in China has been incredible, setting a new record with the best first weekend sales ever in China,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook. “China is a very important market for us and customers there cannot wait to get their hands on Apple products.” The iPhone 5 wasn’t the only iOS device to be made available for sale in China as the iPad Mini went on sale on December 7th, although Apple has yet to share sales figures for that particular device even after ten days of being on sale. Two million iPhone 5s is still an impressive sales number considering how much negative publicity China gets for work conditions inside of Foxconn, which serves as the main manufacturer of the majority of Apple’s products which range from mobile devices like the iPhone 5, iPad and iPod Touch to its computers like the Macbook Pro and, until the end of the year, the iMac. When you compare Apple sold over four million iPhone 5s when it launched in the U.S. this past September, two million sold in China is an even more impressive number. Apple has also said it plans on making the iPhone 5 available in over 100 markets by the end of the year, which means we’re nowhere near hearing the end of Apple gloating over the device’s sales. Seeing as the next iPhone may currently be in production to be released in Q1 2013, we at least know the iPhone 5 will continue to have a bright future as long as people want its larger screen, 8-megapixel camera and A6 processor.
