Yes, rusty. Well, oxidized connectors on the cable, but oxidation is just a fancy word for rust. I used to see this problem occasionally, maybe once every month or so, but over the past six months or so, I’ve seen dozens of examples of this problem causing iPhone charging problems. And before you ask, yes, the problem affects both third-party and genuine Apple cables. Is your cable affected? You can tell by looking at the gold fingers on the connector....

While Apple doesn’t typically mention support for new cellular bands or smaller LTE advancements, it has seemingly been confirmed (via Twitter) that the iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, and likely iPhone XR will all have support for HPUE. It’s not entirely clear if all three of today’s new iPhone models support HPUE, but it seems likely that at least the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max do – with the iPhone XR being a possible outlier....

Engadget has retracted its earlier report claiming that Apple’s second generation iPad will include an SD card reader and a “super-high resolution” display, and is now backing up much of what we have heard about the iPad 2 already. Strategy Analytics reports Apple’s 7.4 million iPhones shipped internationally worldwide in Q3 2009 gives the Cupertino company a record 2.5 percent marketshare. “Apple is expanding its distribution networks into all major regions worldwide and this is driving its volume growth,” the analysts observed.
